Stakeholders

In order to communicate, educate and raise awareness regarding the catastrophic consequences of unregulated discharge of ballast water and the successful methods of controlling it, identification of the relevant stakeholders is very important. The stakeholders are divided into three groups.

Group I

Ship Builders
Ship Designers / Consultants / Societies
Ship Ownres / Operators / Managers
Seafarers / Training Institutions
Ship Chandlers / Ship Brokers / Charterers

The Stakholders identified in this group have primary responsibility and involvement in addressing this issue.

Group II

Coastal Communities
Fishing related Industries
Consumers
Health / Social / Environmentalists / NGOs
Media
General Public
Tourism Industry
Student Community

Stakeholders in this group are those who are affected, as well as those who can act as conscience builders.

Group III

Policy Makers
Administrators of Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands
R & D Institutions
Port Authorities

Above stakeholders are those who will facilitate, formulate and administer the Guidelines and Regulations.
